The Three Messages of the Book of Micah:
- A Warning Message: Judgement is Coming (1:1 – 2:13)
- A Promise Message: A Deliverer is Coming (3:1 – 5:15)
- A Challenge Message: Trust the Lord Now (6:1 – 7:20)
Micah’s name means “Who is like Jehovah.”
Background/Introduction
When God’s servants speak, it pays to listen.
- Declaration: God’s Wrath is Coming (1:1-5)
- The Court is Convened (Vs. 2)
- A Holy God must act in righteousness and judge sin.
- The Judge Arrives (Vs. 3-4)
- But no judge ever came to court in the manner described by Micah. The verb “To come forth” means “To come forth for battle.”
- God opens the court and declares war.
- The Judge Names the Defendant
- The Court is Convened (Vs. 2)
