Sermon Topics

– The Christian Railroad runs on Two tracks: Trust and Obey.
– If you do not have a good reason to obey, you will NOT obey.

  1. Compelling Reasons for Obedience
    • Obedience is a Duty to be Performed (Vs. 29)
      • God does not want your Sacrifices; He wants your Obedience.
      • What does a Disobedient Christian look like?
        • Witchcraft
        • Iniquity
        • Idolatry
      • Disobedience is a clinched fist at God. It is saying, “My Will not His will.”
    • Obedience is a Debt to be Paid (Acts 5:29-31)
      • Have you ever wondered what the Price was? Look at Calvary, bloody Calvary… then tell me you have a right to disobey God.
    • Obedience is a Delight to be Preferred
      • When you obey, you will experience the joy of the Christian life! There is no such thing as a happy, disobedient Christian.
    • Obedience is a Decision to be Practiced
    • Things that God Cannot Do
      • God Cannot Fail (Eph. 1:11)
      • God Cannot do Evil (Titus 1:2)
      • God Cannot be Tempted (James 1:13-14)
      • God Cannot Deny Himself (2 Tim. 2:13)
      • God Cannot Be Unjust (Rom. 3:26, Matt. 26:39)
      • God Cannot Force Loving Obedience
    • Forced Love is not Love at ALL!
    • Obedience is like breathing; it is a gift from God! God gave us lungs to breathe, but you can smother if you’d like.
  2. The Requirements for Obedience (Acts 5:17-20)
    • You must hear from God in order to obey God! If God does not initiate; He is not going to appreciate!
    • Informed Obedience (Acts 5:17-20)
    • Intentional Obedience (Prov. 8:32-34)
    • Immediate Obedience (Acts 5:28-31)
      • Procrastination is a form of Disobedience.
      • Understanding can wait; Obedience Cannot!
    • Inflexible Obedience (Acts 5:33)
    • Impassioned Obedience (Rom. 6:17)
  3. The Rewards for Obedience
    • The Spirit will be Received (Acts 5:32)
    • Joy is Achieved (Acts 5:41)
    • The Gospel is Believed (Acts 5:42; Acts 6:1)

– There are enough people in this room right now to turn this city inside out, upside down, and right side up for Jesus Christ if we become obedient Christians.
– We can’t all be PREACHERS, but we can all be REACHERS.
